Dragon Award Best Nordic Film

The Dragon Award Best Nordic Film is one of the world’s largest film prizes, with a monetary award of 400 000 kronor granted to the winning film. Each year, between 8 and 10 films are nominated for the Nordic Competition.

Since 1989, the Nordic Competition has been the most prestigious category of the Göteborg Film Festival. It showcases new Nordic films with powerful storytelling, engaging themes, and captivating visuals. The winner receives the Dragon Award Best Nordic Film and the prize of 400 000 kr.

Notable filmmakers who have been honoured with this award include Susanne Bier, Tomas Alfredson, Dagur Kári, Amanda Kernell, Gabriela Pichler, and Malou Reymann.
