Upcoming Drama Series from Sweden

Six new series from Sweden premiering the upcoming year will be presented in the showreel as a part of the Coming Next from Sweden & Finland showcase on March 25 at Series Mania Forum 2025. More information about the showcase at the Audiovisual Producers Finland website.

The event is organised by Audiovisual Producers Finland and Swedish Institute in collaboration with Göteborg Film Festival and The Swedish Film & TV Producers Association.

Nominated in Series Mania’s International Panorama section, A Life’s Worth is inspired by the first Swedish UN battalion in Bosnia in 1993. It follows four young soldiers - Forss, Babic, Strand, and Kilpinen - as they embark on their first overseas mission in the tangled and bloody conflict in the Balkans. The mission proves impossible to resolve by peaceful means alone. They are accompanied by their battalion commander, Andreasson, who is torn between the desire to intervene and the duty to follow orders. This is a story of human brutality, difficult moral decisions, and the strong friendship, love, and trust forged under the most extreme circumstances. Inspired by true events, it is based on Magnus Ernström’s novel A Half Year, an Entire Life. Ernström himself was part of this battalion, offering an authentic and deeply personal perspective on the Bosnian War.
